Growing Miniature Art Book Collection...
The Art Book series continues to grow. Late last night while everyone was sleeping, I designed several new miniature dollhouse art books. I'm so excited about this series, I'm thinking of actually listing them as a custom order for a group of 3 or 4. Today I put together the miniature Warhol.

Picasso Blue Period Art Book in Miniature...
I'm doing a series of miniature dollhouse coffee table art books about my favorite artist. I have tons of art books, and thought it would be such a wonderful idea.
I searched the internet for a good tutorial and found a great one from We Love Miniatures. I was a little excited on my first attempt and made a few mistakes. I went back and viewed the video again, took my time, used the right paper and it turned out pretty nice.
I did not want to age the book, so I should have lightened my template lines. I also made the pages 4 pixels smaller then cover, painted the inside of the book cover and edges with a dark blue paint.
It's pretty simple to put the books together, the time consuming part is designing the book in Photoshop…it takes a looooooong time!

Little Darlings...
Wrapping up the week with a few more topiaries. I completed the pails and added a few colorful aged terra cotta pots. The colorful topiaries measure 1 1/2-1 3/4 inch total. They are so cute. I have them in heart and round shapes, with and without bows. (will upload to Etsy this weekend)
I also have been playing around with a few frames I found. I have cute idea for them…stay tuned! Taking a little break next week to work on a home project.
Have a great weekend:).

One of Those Days...
I've been working really hard this week on topiaries, mannequins and a little of this and that. I made the most beautiful teeny tiny birdhouse to add to a wreath I created. I was so proud of it! It needed just a bit more sanding, so I pulled out the electric sander. My cute, teeny, tiny birdhouse flew right out of my hand never to be found again! I searched and searched…and searched some more, no luck.
I also had an idea to create a home sign that has a shelf and pegs, something that would go on the outside door with a lavender bunch. It looked great in my head, but when I completed the project, I felt like the letters looked alittle "Flintstone". I wasn't happy with the result. I guess some days are just like this, sigh.

A Few New Things...
Today I worked on more lavender, mannequins and more topiary pots. I'm playing around with different ideas for the topiaries. Some turn out nicely and some just don't. Here I have a few different styles that I think turned out well.
I finally finished a few mannequins (pictures not so good) that I started a way back. I will get these items listed tomorrow.
Lastly, this morning I made a quick stop in Michaels and found a bunch of frames. I was so excited, I bought 6 packs! I really wanted them to be in todays photo, so pulled out the Annie Sloan paints and did a quick (and not so good) paint job. I have some fun ideas on how I can use them for your mini homes…stay tuned!

Lavender Love...
Yesterday I started working on miniature dollhouse pails and lavender. Today I was able to finish the pails and lots of lavender stems. I love everything about lavender, so I was so happy to finally find a wonderful tutorial that showed how to make them. I played around with color until I was happy. I wanted them to be a deep blue/purple…I love the way they turned out.
I plan on selling lavender pails like below and lavender bunches with pretty bows.

Book Making Fun...
While the pots and pails were drying today, I thought I would have a little fun creating a miniature dollhouse book. I watched a video from a wonderful site called, "We Love Miniatures". The videos are well explained and very good. After watching the book making video a few times. I was able to create this book in Photoshop. It's called "African Objects". I have tons of clip art from my Graphic Design teacher days, so it was pretty easy to find images. I played around with the cover, using a leather image and blended with an african cloth I found on the internet. It came out a little darker than I hoped for, so it's a little difficult to see the african cloth design. It turned out okay. I think I need a bit more practice, but it was a lot of fun to make. I plan on making a few coffee table art books for staging my photos. If you are looking for a few fun tutorials, check out We Love Miniatures.
Here's a few things I learned:
Here's a few things I learned:
- Make the pages smaller than the cover. I contracted the pixels by 2, maybe 4 or 6 would have been better.
- Stain (age) the pages before you glue the book together.
- Use regular printing paper for the inside of the book instead of card stock.

Beautiful Mini Topiary Pots...
Managed to photo and uploaded all the dollhouse miniature topiary pots into my Etsy shop. The pots are painted with Annie Sloan Old White and Duck Egg, then aged to look like they have been sitting in the yard. Some even have (faux) moss. These little cuties will add instant charm to any room in your mini home.

Potted Topiary's...
Today I finished a few of the potted topiary's I've been working on. I've had this idea in my head for a while and was determined to get them added to the shop. They turned out exactly the way I envisioned. I am very happy.
I created different styles; single and double topiary, heart shape topiary (still drying). I have a bunch more that I am working on with different color bows, different size and shape pots and possible baskets. I'm also playing around with different color pots, even though I love the aged "old white" look.
These will look lovely at your front door, or inside your mini home. The pots measure 1/2 and are aged to give a shabby feel. Some even have (fake) moss growing on the pots ;)!
Will try to get them listed in my Etsy Shop this weekend.
