Miniature French Grain Sack Inspired Upholstered Chair...

Last night I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning working on a project that I have been thinking (obsessing) about since I started working on the upholstered chairs.

The idea was to create a French Grain Sack Upholstered Chair. I actually have a few French Grain Sacks, but the fabric is much too thick to work in miniature, so I had to improvise. I chose a coarse linen. I was going for a vintage, stained look, so I pulled out a bunch of tea bags. I let the fabric absorb the tea color, then I sat tea bags here and there to get darker spots. While the fabric was drying I built the frame for the chair. (I'm getting really fast at building the frames…yahoo!)

I was very careful upholstering, as I only had a small amount of that tea stained fabric. Turns out I had just the right amount. Any mistakes…I would have been in trouble and in tears.
