Vintage Style Mannequins

Vintage Style Mannequins

A few vintage mannequins I just completed. I'm obsessed with them, and have 6 more that I am working on. I plan on dressing a few in ballerina tutus and a-line skirts.

The three below have rusted hardware and a rusted stand. They are all one of a kind and look equally nice undressed or dressed.

These items are listed in my Etsy Shop.

Etsy Shop is Open for Business!

Announcement: FabulouslyFlawedMiniatures Etsy Shop is Open for Business!
My Etsy name: fabulouslyflawedmini

I am very excited to announce that after several months of preparation, my Etsy shop is now open for business. You will find lots of items that I have showcased here throughout my journey of setting up the shop.

My furniture items are one of a kind, and I will continue to create pieces that are unique and detailed. My sketchbook is full of wonderful ideas!

The blankets that are listed are hand knitted by my wonderful mother, who I might add is a perfectionist. I know you will be pleased with her blankets.

There are tons of vintage inspired tin and wood signs (my passion). All the signs are designed by me in a graphics program and rusted to give an aged look. I use a wonderful technique that allows the tin to age, as though it has been around for years.

I am new to the Etsy world, so there will be adjustments here and there, especially with the shipping cost. As they say in Etsy world, if there are any questions or concerns, please "convo" me.

My wish is that you will enjoy the pieces as much as I have taken delight in creating each and every one.
My journey does not stop here, I will continue to work/perfect my craft (this has become my full time job) and post new and exciting pieces for your mini homes.

A Few Ways to Get to the Shop;)

Handmade Knitted Miniature Throws for the Grand Opening

Beautiful Handmade Knitted Throws for the Grand Opening

This is a very exciting week here at fabulouslyflawedminiatures. I am preparing for the shop opening, Friday, October 17, 2014. I will be listing a few more beautiful handmade knitted throws. Each one measures 4W x 7 1/2L without the fringe.

They are made with a fine thread, so they are not bulky. Below are a few photos.

Miniature Bed Sheet Sets

Asked for a Favor…

So, awhile ago I asked my mom if she would sew a few miniature sheet sets. We discussed the size, and look. I also wanted to use sand in the pillows, as it gives a more "realistic" appearance. She said,
"no problem". A few weeks after that conversation, I received a package in the mail with more wonderful hand knitted blankets and a bunch of sheet sets! I was really excited about the package, but I was working on something else, so they sat there for awhile. I knew I would get back to them when I started doing the photography for the Etsy shop.
Well, today I am wrapping up the last few things I have to do before I get the shop open. I pull out the package and started dressing the beds. OMG, they are great!  The sets are for double (queen) miniature beds. Each set has 2 pillows (filled with sand), two pillow covers, an envelope style fitted sheet and a flat sheet.
Below are a few photos. They are beautiful!
Thank you mom. :)

This set has lace on the sheet but not the pillows. I think it's better to
have the lace on one or the other.

The Finished Vintage Puppet

Vintage Puppet

I finished the puppet this morning. He has a rusted tin backing, rusted edges and hardware and yes, he moves!
I will have him for sell in the upcoming shop.

Vintage Style Miniature Puppet.

This would look great hanging on the door or window of a
vintage shop.

Fallen Maple Leaves

Ahhh…Lovely Fall

I love when Fall approaches and the tree leaves began a wonderful display of color, eventually falling to the ground. With that in mind, here's a little handmade basket with fallen maple leaves.
Have a wonderful weekend!

All In A Days Work

Lots of Signs and my favorite…A Puppet!

Completed all the signs for the shop today…sigh! Also worked on a puppet idea that I have had on my mind for some time. I love, love the puppet. Might have to make it a little smaller, but it turned out nicely. The puppet has a rusted tin background, rusted hardware and the image is distressed. I love it, so I'm posting the picture of the puppet first :)

Moveable puppet on rusted tin backing. I may have to go
a little smaller, but I love it!
Finally completed all the signs I want for the shop opening

The Downtown signs mounted on wood with a rusted edge

I wanted these to look like they were stretched canvas, they are
pretty cool.  See the backing below.

Remember this one from yesterday...
I thought it would be nice to add a backing.

New Signs and a Redo for today

Fun with Signs Today

Yesterday I created a framed New York bus scroll sign with canvas paper. I thought it looked nice, but something just wasn't right. So today I recreated the sign using a different type of paper. I am really happy that I decided to make the change. It looks so much better. I also created 2 signs I remember seeing one day while I was shopping on a very cute street. The design stayed in my memory, so here they are.

A better version of the framed New York Bus Scroll Sign.
Much happier with this one.

2 rusted tin signs that will look great in a vintage kitchen
or coffee shop.

Worked on lot of inventory today

A Good Working Day

Today my family went for an outing, I stayed behind because I wanted to have a long stretch of time to work on inventory. I was able to create 7 mannequins from the mold and "lots" of signs. I created wood signs, tin signs and canvas signs with frames. I usually work on signs when things are drying, so I will have tons of signs for the opening of the shop. Here's a peek at my day.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

The A-Line Skirt was Rejected!

Spent most of the day attempting to make the A-Line skirt. Again, like the tutu, it just did not work out. I realized that my dress making skills are very, very slim. I will have to wait for moms next visit to learn how to make a nice "A-Line skirt for a very small mannequin" or I will give it another try tomorrow (Sigh).

The day was not lost though, while the now rejected A-line skirt was drying, I made a nice wall crate with rusted number signs on the front.
