Miniature Dollhouse African Mask...

I have a wonderful collection of African Mask from the Ivory Coast. For the last year, I have been looking at the mask and thinking how great it would be to create them in miniature. The thought just sat at the back of my mind. This week, I decided to give it a try. I used a few of the mask I have as inspiration.
After I created the mask, I played around with different paint and effects, trying to achieve an aged look. I created stands and rusted them as well.
The mask measure about an inch, not including stand.

Here's a peek:

A Little Staging Today...

Today I played around with staging the placemats. I had an idea of what kind of table top I wanted to use, so I quickly put one together. I believe a normal 1:12 scale dining table measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, this table top is a little smaller, measuring 4 1/4 x 3 3/8. I wanted you to have some idea of how the placemats fit on a mini table.
I am so happy with this project. I have a bunch more colors coming. I have uploaded the settings you see in these images into my Etsy shop.

After I have exhausted my enthusiasm for this project, I'm thinking of making fabric suitcases like the french inspired one below.

Have an great weekend :).

Choose Your Style...

Finished out the first group of placemats and napkins today. They all are a set of 4, with a few coming in sets of 2 or 4.  I will be adding this group the the shop tomorrow afternoon. I'm a little obsessed with these right now, so I will be creating a few more sets in brighter colors.
They really are adorable. :)

Miniature Placemats and Napkins...

Last night I worked on several placemats and napkins. I created 4 settings for each color, I have several other colors too. These are made with a beautiful linen. I still have a few more steps before done (rings), but wanted to give you a peek, they are really lovely.

Art Book Series, Group 1...

I finally got through the first set of my Miniature Art Book Series. I am making a bunch of coffee table art books for the dollhouse that I am working on.
It's a lot of fun to create these. It requires a lot of time, but quite rewarding when done. I designed the covers/pages in Photoshop using images that I either scanned or found on the internet.

Here's my first group:

Miniature Dollhouse Placemats...

I'm back after a few weeks of working on my daughters new "little girl, turned big girl" room. Happy to get back to mini work, even though I am slowing working on our bedroom update.

A customer asked me about placemats. I never thought of that idea, so I was super excited to give it a try. Today, I made a tester to see how they could possibly turn out. The size of the placemat is 1 x1 1/2. I see a few adjustments I could make, but overall I am happy with the results. I have some great ideas for napkins rings and I plan on making plain fabric sets, as well as sets with designs in the fabric.
