Miniature Vintage Aprons and more Ottomans

Working on Aprons and Ottomans

Took a little time off miniatures to hang out with my daughter during Christmas break. School will start again next week, so I can get back to work.  Here are a few things I started working on before the holiday and will be adding to my shop in a week or so.

Vintage aprons in mini size. I worked on these with my fab mom (who can sew anything!) They are very pretty with a bib, pleated skirt and pocket. Below I have photo'd just a few of the colors I will be selling in my Etsy shop.

I will also have a few more ottomans (still working on the details), including textured leather, beautiful shabby chic yellow with flowers, a nice blue and white stripe, and a lovely pink with ruffles.
Sorry about the photography, I'm sneaking this post in while my daughter has a play date ;).
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

So happy that Mother Nature decided to put the sun away and bring in the clouds. I can light my fireplace without guilt while I play Christmas music and bake Santa cookies on this beautiful Christmas Eve. From my home to your home, have a peaceful evening.

Spent this week working on a Christmas surprise

A Surprise from Santa

My plan was to spend a few days this week working on a surprise for my daughter. She's been asking me to make an American Girl Doll Bed (Julie's Bed) for, forever. I checked out the web site and immediately thought, mom's coming over this week, this looks like a good project for us. I ran over to Michael's, picked up a few pieces of wood and started mapping out the plan. A few days later we had what we thought was a pretty nice looking Julie bed frame.
So, I've been working on miniatures for awhile and I guess I thought I could just glue this pretty large bed. Well, walking the frame to the garage for paint, I bumped into the door and the entire frame fell apart! After my "oh my gosh", I will just buy the darn bed" phase. I calmed down, went to the store to purchase some very fine nails and started all over again. Needless to say, this project took the entire week. The bed is finally complete and Santa is going to score some major points for this surprise.
Our interpretation on the Julie Bed, 3 sets of sheets, a reversible awning and duvet cover.

Okay, now I'm going back to mini's and glue! ;)

Okay, I Can't Hold it in Any Longer

Singing the Happy Song!

I launched my Etsy business October 17, 2014. I was really excited watching the "stats", "favorited" and  "sales". What a great feeling. After a few days though, the sales started to slow and I kept hearing the ringer tone for "favorited", but not the cash tone for "sales". Don't get me wrong, I love when one of my items are favorited, although Etsy tells you it may not turn into a sale, just the thought of people liking what I created makes me super happy. But I must admit, knowing that one of my items might be sitting in someone's beautiful dollhouse across the world puts a huge smile on my face.

On this particular morning, I'm talking 5:40 a.m., there was a chime on my phone, my husband, who wakes up pretty early to work out, wakes me to some very exciting news. I had a sale in the wee hours of the morning, yahoo! But there was also a "conversation". As I attempted to read the conversation with "it's 5:40 a.m" and "I don't have on my glasses" eyes. The only thing I could see clearly was "Dolls' House Magazine(UK)". WHAT! After I found my glasses, I was ecstatic to read that the magazine liked my work and wanted one of my "makes" (shabby chic bedding) for their February issue. Now this is all new to me, as I was thinking they wanted a tutorial of how I made the sheets, I didn't photograph the steps??? Then I read it again, and realized they want a picture of the set. Yes, I can do that.
So here's the even better news, my mom, who makes the sheets was visiting when I got the news. (it's 5:42a.m. now ). I was wide awake now and was having a mini celebration. I asked my husband, "should I wake mom?", of course he said "no", but I could not resist. I went to tell mom the news and I tell you, I have never seen her jump out of the bed so quickly. She wanted to read the "conversation". So there we were, at 5:46 a.m celebrating and singing the "Happy" song.

Some Things Have to be Made in Miniature

Miniature Vintage Framed Movie Posters

Worked on these all day today. I am so excited with the way they turned out. Making frames is a lot more difficult that I imaged, but I was not going to give up. I had this visual in my head and here they are. Yes, there is a Marilyn, I just got a little tired ;).

The finished sizes are 2 x 2 3/4 inches.

Sweet Miniature Ballerina Tutus on a Vintage Mannequin

New Ballerina Mannequin with Sweet Tutus

Wrapping up my mannequin series, this is the "pink" set. Both mannequins are handmade, painted and distressed. Rusted hardware is added and the stand is rusted. Each has handmade roses and a bow in the rear. They are very pretty.  Both are listed in my Etsy shop.

I have 2 more sets that will conclude the series, a cream set and a colored set. Check back, I should have them up in a few days.

A New Twist On An Old Favorite

Turning the Old to New Again

Just added this little cutie to my Etsy shop. The crib is painted a wonderful navy blue. I distressed to crib the give it a vintage look, then created a tufted mattress made from a creamy white and blue cotton fabric. Of course, little baby needs a comfy pillow, so I created a tiny, tiny sand filled pillow and a pillow case to match.

A Peek at New Items for the Etsy Shop

Working hard on new items for the shop

Here's a sneak peek at some of the new items I will be adding to my Etsy shop.
I have been working on mannequins for the last 2 weeks. Some have tutus, some are plain with rusted hardware and I am trying out a few colored ones with aprons (I don't have the colored ones photo'd here).
I also got a chance to work on that A-line skirt…it was hard, very hard…so I will only have one.
Lastly, I purchased a crib kit and worked at making it a little special. I hope you like it, I am really happy with the way it's turning out.

Working on a bunch of mannequins. I tried to make them all different.

I still have a few more details to add, but they are looking good.
A vintage crib that I added a fabulouslyflawed twist to. I am
really happy with this.

Vintage Style Mannequins

Vintage Style Mannequins

A few vintage mannequins I just completed. I'm obsessed with them, and have 6 more that I am working on. I plan on dressing a few in ballerina tutus and a-line skirts.

The three below have rusted hardware and a rusted stand. They are all one of a kind and look equally nice undressed or dressed.

These items are listed in my Etsy Shop.

Etsy Shop is Open for Business!

Announcement: FabulouslyFlawedMiniatures Etsy Shop is Open for Business!
My Etsy name: fabulouslyflawedmini

I am very excited to announce that after several months of preparation, my Etsy shop is now open for business. You will find lots of items that I have showcased here throughout my journey of setting up the shop.

My furniture items are one of a kind, and I will continue to create pieces that are unique and detailed. My sketchbook is full of wonderful ideas!

The blankets that are listed are hand knitted by my wonderful mother, who I might add is a perfectionist. I know you will be pleased with her blankets.

There are tons of vintage inspired tin and wood signs (my passion). All the signs are designed by me in a graphics program and rusted to give an aged look. I use a wonderful technique that allows the tin to age, as though it has been around for years.

I am new to the Etsy world, so there will be adjustments here and there, especially with the shipping cost. As they say in Etsy world, if there are any questions or concerns, please "convo" me.

My wish is that you will enjoy the pieces as much as I have taken delight in creating each and every one.
My journey does not stop here, I will continue to work/perfect my craft (this has become my full time job) and post new and exciting pieces for your mini homes.

A Few Ways to Get to the Shop;)
  1. Click on the link above or below to be directed to the shop.
  2. Go to Etsy, in the search box type in: fabulouslyflawedmini.
  3. Check out the Etsy mini on this site.

Thank you for your support and wonderful comments, I love this job!
