Updated Settee...

I updated this wonderful settee with 100% white linen, took away the arms, added trim, darken the legs and added a lovely left printed graphic pillow filled with sand to give a realistic look.

One Parson Chair Finished...

I finished one chair this morning and I love it! Not an easy project, but worth all the time. Can't wait to finish the other 3 chairs and farm table. Note to self, "don't choose a pattern fabric that has to match when testing a design.".

Fabric Bread Basket...

This is what happens when you have a little person sick with a cold. You sit around making (testing out) miniature bread baskets and emptying a trash can full of runny nose paper every few minutes. 👃

New Vintage Style Posters….

After spending so much time working on the fabulouslyflawedminiatures craft room, today I felt a great urge to make something in mini. So I decided to play around with vintage tin signs. These are super cute images of Marlo Thomas from the "That Girl" series I grew up on, a "It's a Wonderful Life" poster and a few Barbie and Skipper images.

I have a few in tin and I'm working on a few with a wood background. Will have them listed in the shop at the end of the week.

House of Miniature Kit Redo...

Just finished this vintage inspired seating for the "Travel Trailer".  I love HofM kits. They are well made, easy to put together, inexpensive, and you can redo them in many different styles.

This one is the Queen Anne Settee. I used a "linen like" fabric that I tea stained, added extra padding, aged the feet and left off the arm rest. I made a little mistake on the side, so I decided to make it look like it was part of the design by adding little squares and a nail head. I think it gave it a vintage, modern look…feeling happy:).

Lots of Accessories This Week...

A super busy week as I continue building the Travel Trailer, as well as make accessories for the decor. 

I started the week off with a small tray. I used paint samples swatches from Home Depot and a super small square punch for the mosaic. For the grout, I mixed white sugar and glue. Once dried, I used clear nail polish to seal it. The wood is painted with Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint.   

Kat from Kitty and Kat Miniatures sent me a package of wonderful mini's for the trailer.  I could not wait to finish the mattress for the iron bed to show off two beautiful, tiny xstitched pillows included in that "mini goodie package". Big hugs to Kat.

I found tutorials for the purse and tiny mini house. I just modified to my style. 

The shelf TV and Record Player is something that I always wanted to try. I had two 1 inch square boxes made from mat board staring at me as I was working the purse, next thing I knew I was building a TV and Record Player. Although I love the look, I see room for improvement (Still working on the TV knobs).

Lastly, I asked mom if she would knit a hat and scarf the the trailer, 2 days later I received a package with several in wonderful colors. She gifted me a few to sell on Etsy…love her!!

Vintage Leather Miniature Chair...

Okay, so I have been working on this one for a few days. I worked slowly and carefully until it was all done:0!
Made from a distressed leather with leather piping, I wanted it to have a "kinda old vibe" with a little Restoration Hardware influence.  I think it's cool, I mean really cool! Find it in my Etsy shop this evening (one of a kind ;)
Going to disappear for a the rest of the week…need to do some serious cleaning.

Miniature French Grain Sack Inspired Upholstered Chair...

Last night I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning working on a project that I have been thinking (obsessing) about since I started working on the upholstered chairs.

The idea was to create a French Grain Sack Upholstered Chair. I actually have a few French Grain Sacks, but the fabric is much too thick to work in miniature, so I had to improvise. I chose a coarse linen. I was going for a vintage, stained look, so I pulled out a bunch of tea bags. I let the fabric absorb the tea color, then I sat tea bags here and there to get darker spots. While the fabric was drying I built the frame for the chair. (I'm getting really fast at building the frames…yahoo!)

I was very careful upholstering, as I only had a small amount of that tea stained fabric. Turns out I had just the right amount. Any mistakes…I would have been in trouble and in tears.

Dainty and Delightful...

A slight change to the pattern and you get a brand new look. This one has a square arm and a wrap around skirt with piping. As with all the chairs, it has nice cushion, wood feet, and a cute little pink pillow.
The fabric is a beautiful green with pink dots outlined in white.

Blue Moon...

A nice mini upholstered chair to cozy up and read a good book. This one is made with a beautiful blue background, cream colored flowers and a little blue moon inside the flower. It is the perfect chair to snuggle into. Lots of cushion, Lots of piping.

A Blast of Color...

I wanted to work on a different design, something that was a slightly more modern, so no skirt on this one. I was also dying to use this beautiful fabric I purchase a few days ago. It is so pretty. I absolutely love the colors and design. It will definitely stand out in your mini home.  Lots of cushion, lots of  piping and lots of color!

Choose Your Style...

Finished out the first group of placemats and napkins today. They all are a set of 4, with a few coming in sets of 2 or 4.  I will be adding this group the the shop tomorrow afternoon. I'm a little obsessed with these right now, so I will be creating a few more sets in brighter colors.
They really are adorable. :)

A Few New Things...

Today I worked on more lavender, mannequins and more topiary pots. I'm playing around with different ideas for the topiaries. Some turn out nicely and some just don't. Here I have a few different styles that I think turned out well.
I finally finished a few mannequins (pictures not so good) that I started a way back. I will get these items listed tomorrow.

Lastly, this morning I made a quick stop in Michaels and found a bunch of frames. I was so excited, I bought 6 packs! I really wanted them to be in todays photo, so pulled out the Annie Sloan paints and did a quick (and not so good) paint job. I have some fun ideas on how I can use them for your mini homes…stay tuned!

Book Making Fun...

While the pots and pails were drying today, I thought I would have a little fun creating a miniature dollhouse book. I watched a video from a wonderful site called, "We Love Miniatures". The videos are well explained and very good. After watching the book making video a few times. I was able to create this book in Photoshop. It's called "African Objects". I have tons of clip art from my Graphic Design teacher days, so it was pretty easy to find images. I played around with the cover, using a leather image and blended with an african cloth I found on the internet. It came out a little darker than I hoped for, so it's a little difficult to see the african cloth design. It turned out okay. I think I need a bit more practice, but it was a lot of fun to make.  I plan on making a few coffee table art books for staging my photos. Here's a few things I learned:

• Make the pages smaller than the cover. I contracted the pixels by 2, maybe 4 or 6 would have been better.
• Stain (age) the pages before you glue the book together.
• Use regular printing paper for the inside of the book instead of card stock.

Busy Bee...

So much going on now that I am back. Here's a new addition, "fabric throws". These are the great, made with 100% cotton, soak them in a glue bath for realistic creases, or leave them as they are. Will be adding lots more in different fabrics. 

I also have wonderful new 1 1/2 inch pillows in fresh new fabrics (will be uploading next week). Super excited about the new items.
