Hat, Scarves and Aprons, Oh My...

Since I have the mini photography studio set up, I decided to take a look at stock and update photos.

Today I worked on aprons and hand knitted hat and scarf sets.

I have the most adorable hand knitted hand and scarf sets. The listing photos were never really that great, today I tried to get better shots. I also wanted to redo the apron listing and add a few new ones.
The tea towels...I made tons in lots of colors, white, natural and tea stained muslin. They have a cute little label too (these will be a slow upload). Should have the aprons and hat/scarf sets uploaded tomorrow.

More Trailer Updates...

I figured out why I'm enjoying making the Travel Trailer so much…it is giving me the chance to make all the little minis that have been sitting in my "I'm going to try that" space. Still nervous about the flowers though, I need so many! If anyone knows of a few great tutorials or sites, please let me know :).

Here are a few trailer exterior updates and photos of new accessories I am trying for the first time.

The handle is made using layers of glued paper, then aged.

The exterior of the Travel Trailer. The flower box is painted with Annie Sloan Napoleonic Blue. I would
like to add some type of sticker trim with a name before I do the aging.

Today I played around with creating a computer. This is the first tester. I see a
few problems that I think I can work out to make it better. Will give it another try tomorrow. 

Yesterday I make a few vintage looking keys to hang on the wall shelf.

Adding Finishing Touches...

Today I worked on the finishes for a few recent builds. I rusted the coat rack and made a cute vintage rose colored umbrella (a super easy build).
Yesterday, I stained the table top of the iron round table I created to sit in front of the settee. I was not happy with it at all:(.
Today I came up with an idea to make it better, I added a thin strip of rusted metal around the edge, then glued a bunch of thin wood strips on top (I distressed the edge of each one). Initially, I was going to paint to top, but decided to try to tea stain it. The tea stain was too light, so I added my Peets used coffee grounds, which gave it a look I was happy with.

If I Can Make a Chair, I Should Be Able to Make a Sofa...

I have been obsessing on upholstered chairs these last few weeks. While hanging out in Los Angeles, I purchased lots wonderful fabrics. Seeing the fabrics come to life is so addictive.

While working on a few chairs, it dawned on me, if I can make a chair, I should be able to make a sofa, a much needed sofa for staging!... (a slight deviation from my "chair" goal)

I put together a pattern for the sofa. It's the same look as the chairs, just longer. I wanted a larger, shabby-ish looking sofa. I went to the Restoration Hardware website to get an idea of the size. I compromised between and 72" (6 inches) and 84"(7 inches), and made the pattern 6 1/2 inches. While shopping for fabric, I stumbled upon a wonderful fabric that had a great texture. At the time, I didn't know what I would use if for, but I didn't want to pass it up. I decided to try it on the sofa. I love it! It is exactly what I need for staging some of the new items I have coming to the shop.
I'm loving the photos ;).

Miniature Dollhouse Placemats...

I'm back after a few weeks of working on my daughters new "little girl, turned big girl" room. Happy to get back to mini work, even though I am slowing working on our bedroom update.

A customer asked me about placemats. I never thought of that idea, so I was super excited to give it a try. Today, I made a tester to see how they could possibly turn out. The size of the placemat is 1 x1 1/2. I see a few adjustments I could make, but overall I am happy with the results. I have some great ideas for napkins rings and I plan on making plain fabric sets, as well as sets with designs in the fabric.

Wall Shelves by fabulouslyflawedminiatures

When I started thinking of creating more wall shelves, I came up with a challenge. The goal was to create a bunch of wall shelves that had the same base, but they all had to be different in style. I was able to create 5, then I started running out of ideas???

I spent most of the yesterday morning taking pictures. There was sun, five minutes later, clouds. Needless to say, many of my photos have to be reshot for Etsy…grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!  Somehow, though, I accidentally got a few pictures that I really love. Yes, they are pretty washed out, but I tend to love anything that looks old. Here are my 3 favorite photos, the other 2 were just plain bad :(.

Miniature Dollhouse Throw Pillows…

Hand Knitted and Hand Sewn Miniature Throw Pillows

A few weeks ago I received a large box from my wonderful mother. She has been busy…
I opened the box and to my delight were hand knitted miniature dollhouse pillows in "BEAUTIFUL" colors, I can't believe she made so many! I told her she was working too hard, she says, "it keeps me busy".

At least once a week, I receive a package of beautifully handmade miniature knitted and/or sewn items. A few days ago, another package of cotton miniature throw pillows and more throws. Each and everyone is made to perfection. Of course, they will all be listed in my Etsy shop. I'm going to have to call mom and tell her she's making "me" work too hard. More photos to take!

How to Make a fabulouslyflawedminiatures Bed…

New Bedding Coming to fabulouslyflawedminiatures…

I wanted the share something that I am extremely excited about. I absolutely love bedding. I had the idea of creating a duvet set for miniatures. With the help of my mom (expert at sewing) we were able to create wonderful duvets sets that work really well with the "queen" size miniature bed. We have LOTS, and I do mean LOTS of bedding, in lots of different colors and fabric, including linen. The line will include: duvets and matching pillows with sand inserts, new hand knitted blankets, TONS of new throws, new sheet sets and TONS and TONS of hand knitted throw bed pillows and cotton throw pillows.
I probably should not put this out yet, (I am so behind on my photography), but I was super excited when I did a test "dressing". In this picture you will see how I have added the fabulouslyflawedminiatures headboard, bench, basket and tray table to accessorize.

The line will be added after I have completed the photography for the wood items and baskets. (I just finished all the photography today). Of course, I have to upload, size then upload to Etsy…it's a long process. Then I have to do it again for the bedding, but I think you will like all the new items I have coming to the shop.

I finally finished the baskets. Lots of work, but well worth it. They are wonderful and will add lots of charm to your mini homes. Fill them, stack them, or let them stand alone, they will add a realistic touch to your mini rooms. I'm am getting through the photography, slowly but surely…all the baskets (I have lots more) will be listed in my Etsy Store (coming soon).
