I have always wanted to paint little mini canvases. Yesterday, I have a little extra time while the mini furniture was drying. I pulled out a little canvas and created the little modern piece. 

Working on the frame, but excited so I thought I'd share.

Old Denim...

 Hello everyone. I've been away for a bit, but I haven't stopped making minis. I have tons, I mean tons of new items coming. It's a lot of work to not only make the minis, but to stage and photo items for Etsy is a huge undertaking. I'm trying to get myself motivated to start the process. In the meantime, I keep making more minis...omg!!! 

I still have a few more sofas, chairs, ottomans to complete. Then I will move on to accessories, which will include wood work, vintage laundry baskets, and planted topiaries. Mom has been knitting and sewing lots blankets, throws, duvet sets and toss pillows in wonderful new colors. 

Here's a peek of the new size table ottomans I'm creating for your mini home. This one is made with a pair of old jeans, I thought it could look fantastic with a white sofa for a shabby scene.

Undressing...

My secret big dream has always been to be a famous painter, but making one painting a year is just not going to make it happen. So I make miniatures (which I love).

I enjoy taking my "one painting a year" paintings and turning them into miniatures. Sometimes, I play around with Photoshop to change the colors and get different looks. Below is a piece I completed many years ago. The original is red, but playing around in the program, I settled on this wonderful Khaki color.

Three Little Chairs...

Just finished the last tester for the dining room chair group that I have been working on for the farm tables I created a while back. I wanted to have a few designs that would give some variety and possibly do a mix-match look. This last one (once painted) will have a cane effect. I may also try to add padding with decorative fabric.

Hat, Scarves and Aprons, Oh My...

Since I have the mini photography studio set up, I decided to take a look at stock and update photos.

Today I worked on aprons and hand knitted hat and scarf sets.

I have the most adorable hand knitted hand and scarf sets. The listing photos were never really that great, today I tried to get better shots. I also wanted to redo the apron listing and add a few new ones.
The tea towels...I made tons in lots of colors, white, natural and tea stained muslin. They have a cute little label too (these will be a slow upload). Should have the aprons and hat/scarf sets uploaded tomorrow.

Getting Closer to the Look...

I'm getting closer to the look that I am going for on the mannequins. I love that numbered vintage look. Of course it's super scary marking up your "almost" finished work. So I needed time to figure how what to do. Here's one idea (below) that I feel pretty good about. It still needs something, I'm thinking maybe a little tea stain on the fabric to make the number look as though it's been there a while. I will give that a try this week.
I also purchased a few "no bleed" markers (thank' you Kat). Need to play around with them a little more (will show the results once I get something good).

Finally Working Again...

Happy New Year!
Hello my friends, it has been quite a while since I have been able to work. My middle finger has bothered me since October. I was so afraid that it would get worse, so I decided to let it rest. I am happy to say that it is so much better. Not 100%, but better. Thank goodness it's my right hand (I'm left handed).
Okay, enough about the finger…

I am working on a full project. This one has me super excited. I got the inspiration from "Cinderella Moments", a blog I love. The artist makes the most adorable Travel Trailers. I've been wanting to make one for my daughters new room, so with slow sales and a desire to make a "completed project", I decided to give it a try.

The theme is French Flea Market Vintage. So far I have put part of the trailer together, stained the hardwoods, made wainscoting, textured the walls, made frames for the the doors and windows, tested stained glass window techniques, made a few baskets and what I am most proud of, made a French Flea Market Daybed.

I have Chez Marcelle in the back of my head, but every time I start working on it, I start feeling overwhelmed. So I decided I should start small. I'm having so much fun with this.

Really excited about this daybed. Still have a little editing to do on the color, but so happy with it.

Kinda of, sorta of the direction. I am sure there will be lots of edits here.

Made a few edits to the structure.

Added some plaster to the walls.  Paint at the top, wainscoting on the bottom, painted with
Annie Sloan Chalk paints.

Making wainscoting for the project. Will be painted Annie Sloan Pure White.

Walnut hardwood floors, stained and reading for waxing.

Playing around with stain glass panels for one of the window. Used colored pencils for the grey, Sharpies for the yellow. They both turned out nicely.

Miniature French Grain Sack Inspired Upholstered Chair...

Last night I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning working on a project that I have been thinking (obsessing) about since I started working on the upholstered chairs.

The idea was to create a French Grain Sack Upholstered Chair. I actually have a few French Grain Sacks, but the fabric is much too thick to work in miniature, so I had to improvise. I chose a coarse linen. I was going for a vintage, stained look, so I pulled out a bunch of tea bags. I let the fabric absorb the tea color, then I sat tea bags here and there to get darker spots. While the fabric was drying I built the frame for the chair. (I'm getting really fast at building the frames…yahoo!)

I was very careful upholstering, as I only had a small amount of that tea stained fabric. Turns out I had just the right amount. Any mistakes…I would have been in trouble and in tears.

If I Can Make a Chair, I Should Be Able to Make a Sofa...

I have been obsessing on upholstered chairs these last few weeks. While hanging out in Los Angeles, I purchased lots wonderful fabrics. Seeing the fabrics come to life is so addictive.

While working on a few chairs, it dawned on me, if I can make a chair, I should be able to make a sofa, a much needed sofa for staging!... (a slight deviation from my "chair" goal)

I put together a pattern for the sofa. It's the same look as the chairs, just longer. I wanted a larger, shabby-ish looking sofa. I went to the Restoration Hardware website to get an idea of the size. I compromised between and 72" (6 inches) and 84"(7 inches), and made the pattern 6 1/2 inches. While shopping for fabric, I stumbled upon a wonderful fabric that had a great texture. At the time, I didn't know what I would use if for, but I didn't want to pass it up. I decided to try it on the sofa. I love it! It is exactly what I need for staging some of the new items I have coming to the shop.
I'm loving the photos ;).
