Farm Table Tops...

I've been working on Miniature Dollhouse Farm Tables. I think I have a pretty good design, but want to offer different table top stains, as well as different base colors. Tonight, I could not resist playing around with an idea that I had to create a darker finish on the table top. The darker stain applied to this type of wood gave a silver like finish that I did not like. After lots of sanding and playing around with different techniques, I was able to get a "Restoration Hardware" style finish that I was going for. I still have to apply a sealer, but I love the finish. It's really going to pop on a Annie Sloan White Base.
Next, I would like to try one that has a red chipped paint finish, so I'm going to go study a Primitive/Folk Art Book that I have, then I may attempt to duplicate that style (finger x'd on that idea).
Have a wonderful weekend,
Anita

Clocks in Color...

Today I finished a few more of the rusted clocks. I have listed a the small rectangles and a small round. I also got a chance to work on a few with colored housing. This group of three, is painted in French Blue and of course, distress to give an aged/shabby look. I played around with painting the interior edge the same color, but I wasn't too happy with it. I thought it worked better rusted.
These are listed as well.
Have a great weekend.

Tick Tock it's Time for Clocks...

I've been thinking of this idea for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. Little vintage inspired clocks for your mini home (and mine too)!
I cut out a bunch (spent all day cutting) because I want to make them in all the Annie Sloan colors I have. If they turn out the way I image in my head, should be pretty nice.
I will keep you posted.

BTW, kinda in between "real" house stuff and miniature stuff (that balance is difficult). Finally can pick up  the Travel Trailer again. Getting the top together, should have progress photos next week.

Vintage Inspired Miniature Dollhouse Clocks coming soon!

Call Me Crazy...

Call me crazy, but I had to make a theme change on the Travel Trailer. This project is being made for my daughter. I want her to have some type of dollhouse in her room without it taking up too much room. The Travel Trailer is perfect in size. I started out with one theme, but soon discovered I was creating it in a different style, my style. Yesterday morning I woke up and decided I would go back to the original theme, "Girly Eclectic Vintage". This allows me to use pinks, duck egg, old white, rust and aged wood. I will save that daybed for "Chez Marcelle", which will be designed in my style.

With that said, I had to create another bed, still vintage in style, but more "girly". I plan on rusting it, then painting it with Old White, and rusting some spots again. This will give it that old, old look I'm going for and I can create beautiful linens and throw pillows.

Here's a peek at the bed. I finished building and priming it this morning. Of course, I will have to make another mattress (eyes rolling)…mini work is never done!

New bed for the "Travel Trailer" project. Still in raw form.

Vintage Leather Miniature Chair...

Okay, so I have been working on this one for a few days. I worked slowly and carefully until it was all done:0!
Made from a distressed leather with leather piping, I wanted it to have a "kinda old vibe" with a little Restoration Hardware influence.  I think it's cool, I mean really cool! Find it in my Etsy shop this evening (one of a kind ;)
Going to disappear for a the rest of the week…need to do some serious cleaning.
Have a great rest of week and weekend.

This Miniature Dollhouse Sofa is made with a versatile chambray fabric. It has everything; cushion, piping, tufting, wood feet and buttons. It functions in a shabby, country, and even a contemporary setting. This one measures 6 1/4 wide x 2 1/2 deep by 3 1/4 tall. This sofa works wonderfully with many of the new upholstered chairs coming to fabuloulsyflawedminiatures Etsy shop.

Miniature French Grain Sack Inspired Upholstered Chair...

Last night I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning working on a project that I have been thinking (obsessing) about since I started working on the upholstered chairs.

The idea was to create a French Grain Sack Upholstered Chair. I actually have a few French Grain Sacks, but the fabric is much too thick to work in miniature, so I had to improvise. I chose a coarse linen. I was going for a vintage, stained look, so I pulled out a bunch of tea bags. I let the fabric absorb the tea color, then I sat tea bags here and there to get darker spots. While the fabric was drying I built the frame for the chair. (I'm getting really fast at building the frames…yahoo!)

I was very careful upholstering, as I only had a small amount of that tea stained fabric. Turns out I had just the right amount. Any mistakes…I would have been in trouble and in tears.

Here's how it turned out:

If I Can Make a Chair, I Should Be Able to Make a Sofa...

I have been obsessing on upholstered chairs these last few weeks. While hanging out in Los Angeles, I purchased lots wonderful fabrics. Seeing the fabrics come to life is so addictive.

While working on a few chairs, it dawned on me, if I can make a chair, I should be able to make a sofa, a much needed sofa for staging!... (a slight deviation from my "chair" goal)

I put together a pattern for the sofa. It's the same look as the chairs, just longer. I wanted a larger, shabby-ish looking sofa. I went to the Restoration Hardware website to get an idea of the size. I compromised between and 72" (6 inches) and 84"(7 inches), and made the pattern 6 1/2 inches. While shopping for fabric, I stumbled upon a wonderful fabric that had a great texture. At the time, I didn't know what I would use if for, but I didn't want to pass it up. I decided to try it on the sofa. I love it! It is exactly what I need for staging some of the new items I have coming to the shop.
I'm loving the photos ;).

Now back to chairs…
